Are American cars that bad?

This afternoon my neighbors were talking. One of them bought a 2015 Chrysler 200 S with a Petastar V6 engine.

my other Neighbor told him he should have bought a Camry because japanese cars are more reliable than any american car. Is that true? Does that mean pickup trucks like the Sierra, F150, and Ram are not good? Or the Charger, Mustang or Camaro?

he said he would buy a Honda Civic with 300 000 km on it rather than buying a brand new American car.

On average, yes.

American cars aren't as awful as they used to be, especially a few decades ago. Just check out the model you're looking at with like consumer reports, things like that

Actually there's no longer any vehicle that's 100% made in the USA, parts are brought in from Europe, or some assembly is done overseas.

Just check the Consumer Protection reports on whichever vehicle you're looking at.

Yes.

You'd be crazy to drive an american car outside the US, they just can't keep up with japanese or german cars.

Anybody that bought a Chrysler 200 didn't read ONE Review. It is a bottom rated car. We taught the Japanese Quality Control, and they beat us at our own game. Accountants run American carmakers and all they care about is it lasting the Warranty. The Japanese care way more about their Reputation. Honda, Toyota, Mazda and Subaru were the top 4 carmakers in the last poll that I saw. On the High End, Lexus had been at the top a long time. But now they make too many models and not every one is excellent. I drive a Mazda and love it. Fun to drive, easy to maintain and good on gas. That's a winner in my book.

AmErIcAn CaRs ArE bAd **** off

American cars not quite up to par with Japanese, Korean, or European brands but the neighbor who chose the Chrysler 200 bought the bottom of the pack. It's one of the worst he could have bought. Some people simply do no research when buying a car!

Personally, I haven't bought an American-made car in over 40 years.

Those who buy American often abuse their vehicles. Hence, American cars statically have more problems. DUH!

If you keep up with the recommended servicing, American cars are just as good as any other.

One word. Unions.
