Are halogen headlights good enough for night driving?
I use them with halogen foglights to get decent view, but I'm thinking.
My friend had stock LED on his Honda Civic Touring, and it lit up the whole road, and I checked from my car it wasn't blinding at all, and no one was flashing him.
For me, I would have to turn on my high beams (which I don't) in order to get decent lighting.
Are they good enough? Yes. They meet certain regulation standards but yes their are better options for headlights
"… Good enough for night driving… " WHERE?
In the city, with city traffic and street lighting, you don't even need lights -- the lights are only do others can see you.
County lanes, lower speeds, the lights we had in the '40's are totally acceptable.
Empty highways, high speed, NO headlights are good enough -- you want aftermarket driving lamps, pencils, so you can see the road a mile ahead. Like my Pinto with the Lucas Square Eights.
People have been driving with them for YEARS. They are good enough.
As long as you don't over drive the lights ( meaning you can safely stop within the distance illuminated by the headlights ), yes.
But xenon and LED lamps are typically better, provided the headlamps properly project the light beam farther down the road without blinding oncoming traffic.
You answered your own question. The lights on your car are not strong enough if you can't see far enough down the road at legal speed, at night.
- Will Halogen headlights be obsolete soon? Someone at Honda told me that. But halogens for me are decent in terms of night time view. Like I had HID's before and I had a few people flashing me. But even now some HID or LED stock is still blinding with a glare.
