Belt squealing problem on 2000 honda civic ex?
I just did my timing belt and water pump and replaced power steering pulley and belt, ac compressor belt and idler pulley and alternator belt. Now when I start my car it squils until I get moving and then goes away. I've taken the compressor belt and power steering belt off and it still squils. I suspect it must be alternator belt or pulley. But it never squired before the timing belt change so I don't believe it is the pulley. I tightened the belt as much as I could and it still squils. It doesn't feel real tight but it's the tightest I could get it. If someone has a suggestion thank you. I'm suspecting I need to buy a new alternator belt.
It is the alternator belt. The starter draws a lot of amps to start the engine so the alternator is trying to recover that amp loss as soon as possible. As soon as the amps are replaces the alternator can quit working so hard and it turns easier. Hence the squeal stops.

- Squealing/chirping noise on 1999 honda civic dx hatchback? I have a 99 honda civic with a d16y7 motor. There's a squealing/chirping noise in my car but everytime i press the clutch all the way down or drive it the noise is gone but if i'm at a red light or a stop and let it idle it just squeals and chirps really loud and its getting annoying. I recently changed all the belts but noise is still there and it sounds like its coming from where my transmission is
- Squealing '04 Honda Civic? Okay so my car makes a very high pitched squealing sound whenever I start it and turn the steering wheel, even it is in park and I turn the wheel it squeals! This stops after I pick up speed and usually only happens when the car has been sitting overnight or when I get off work. Also a little background I very recently had my head gasket replaced about 6 weeks ago and my timing belt was done in the last two years.
