Can I drive my 2004 Honda Civic hybrid if the IMA battery is dead?

My grandmother has had this car for about thirteen years and replaced the IMA? Batteries (the batteries behind the backseat) before giving the car to me in February so they re still fairly new. I've been good about keeping the battery charged but I live in AZ and it's so hot that the batteries don't charge until it cools down.
My grandmother had told me that if those batteries die, the car will shut off and all electric features will stop working (windows, locks). I'm on the side of the road in the middle of the day because the IMA meter is empty but it hasn't shut off. It's too hot to sit in the car and wait for it to cool down but I don't want to risk my car dying on the middle of the road and for some reason, people online either have very different answers from each other or just won't answer the question period.
Am I able to drive my car without the batteries having a charge or am I going to have wait until the sun goes down and the battery will be able to charge?

The car still runs without it but you regular battery will go dead soon if the IMA is done. Your gas mileage will decrease too. The regular battery should keep everything going till you get to someplace to cool off. Don't run the A/C. Sorry.

Apparently yes.

  • Bought a 1985 Honda inspector kid told me it needed new battery but started with jump got new battery and it was dead next day? Pretty sure its the alternator just wanted some second opinions also I got the bike for 600 dollars you guys think thats a good deal
  • Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery? I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
  • How to drive a honda civic hybrid car with out hybrid battery? Bought a car about 4 months ago and the battery is now dead. I check to make sure its not the normal battery and Auto Zone said it was fine. I'm sure its the hybrid battery but i don't have the money to pay 1,000 or more for a battery on a car i just spent money on. Is there a way you can drive this car without the hybrid battery? Or dose anyone know a place to get these batteries cheaper?
  • Honda civic ima battery issues? Hiya, i'm looking forward to buy a hybrid car, quite like honda ima but been reading the reviews, sum r gud and sum r bad… Heard if battery dies it costs around £3000 to get fixed or replaced. Does anyone owns and knows any1 who owns honda ima, how it drives? Is it worth buying? Hows its battery life and anything that can help me making a decision.
