Can I tear out this plastic thing under the engine behind the bumper?
I have an 05 Honda Civic. There's a foot wide plastic tray kind of thing hanging from near the back of the bumper. It spans the width of the bumper. It looks to have broken loose from its binding partially. It scrapes the ground sometimes. Do I need it?
Its just an air dam. Take it out if you like. It has broke loose from bashing into parking blocks. You have a short car, No need to pull clear up to and into the parking blocks. Take some pride in your car.
You can take it out or order new tabs to replace the broken ones if possible. I ordered some for my car when I took off the entire front bumper to install my HID kit.
Its a splash guard. It also is there for aerodynamics. You don't need it, but you may want to replace it soon.
- Why is Toyota so technologically behind? Toyota Corolla in the States still use rear drum brakes and an archaic 4 speed auto. Compare them to Honda, Hyundai, etc. When people complained about the lousy braking of the Toyota Fortuner, we all expected them to change to 4 wheel disc brakes. But they only changed the mere front discs. Toyota Innova has smaller front disc brakes than the Smart car.
- Should I paint over a bad tear in my bumper, or order a new one and have the mechanics install it then have them paint it? I recently bought a used 1997 Honda Prelude. It's red and badly sun faded and has a bad tear on the rear bumper. I was wondering whether I should just have it painted over or order a whole new bumper and have the people at the shop install it and paint it for me. Any suggestions?
- How to join plastic fairing? I have a Honda hornet 600. The top rear fairing is 3 pieces that I would like to join together into one seamless piece as well as filling in the seatlock keyhole. I'm uncertain as to what material to use. I would think that traditional body filler would be too brittle. It is plastic so it does flex a little. Any ideas?
- What damage is possible from a construction cone riding under the front portion under the car? I was traveling doing about 55 mph and could not swerve to avoid hitting a construction cone. It hit under my car and dragged until I could pull over and pry it loose. I could not see too well under the car. I have a Honda Fit
