Can you drive a car with penetrating oil on spark plug?

1997 Honda civic LX. We were trying to replace spark plugs on Honda we bought but one refused to budge so we put penetrating oil and tried again. Nothing. So we read you can leave overnight and it might be better… But I work in 7 hours and wake up a few hours early to try again and hope it works. Otherwise… We would have to try again after work… So my question is, can the car be driven… Or am I going to set the car on fire? Is uber a better idea?

Yup, the heat will actually be good for it
if you can, spray some more on before you leave for the day

Soak the excess oil up with kitchen paper. It'll be fine to drive after that.

You can also try a mixture of 50% acetone and 50% transmission fluid (ATF or Dexron). Soak it overnight on the plug and the plug will come out easily. Do not put too much force when turning or you might break the plug body.

Hi yes penetrating oil is volatile as it has spirit in it. So yes it could catch fire. As spark plugs do get very hot that is why you are having trouble removing it.

Just wipe off excess oil it should be OK.

Listen carefully. The base of the spark plug is sealed to the cylinder head. If the spark plug is stuck in the cylinder head because of the threads, there's NO Way that you can get penetrating oil into the threads, from the OUTSIDE of the engine. Impossible.

So you sprayed penetrating oil there.

Now can you drive the car like this? Probably.

Will yhe car catch fire?
Probably not.
