Car rpm revv uncontrolable?
I have a 2000 honda civic si with a b18b1 turbo. When i reach 5,000 rpm the car revv uncontrolably like if it was doing like a redline. The car is now smocking blue and sometimes when i turn off the car i see blue smoke coming out inbetween the turbo and the headers. And when i'm driving it for like 15 minutes the check engine light comes on. What can it be? How to fix it? And an estimate of cost
It's definitely very very bad to see smoke coming out of your turbo. You may have bad oil seals in the turbo or engine, causing oil to get sucked in through an air leak and serve in place of fuel. This is very common with diesel engines in poor repair but not so much with gasoline motors.
Overheating the turbo can leave you with extremely expensive repair bills. I recommend not driving the car until you have a good mechanic check it out.
Turbos get extremely hot in operation, and your manner of driving may be over-stressing the motor if you don't give it adequate warmup and cooldown time.
Start saving for a new car.
Usually when the seal in the turbo blows out completely, oil smoke will pour out of the exhaust pipes, so if its a lot of smoke that may be part of your problem.Another likely problem you may now have is a blown head gasket due to over revving. I would pull the spark plugs to see if any of them are wet from coolant or oil.Oil would be from the turbo seal leak and coolant would be from a blown head gasket. If you see any type of wetness on any of the plugs, do a compression test on all cylinders. If 1 or more cylinders has low compression compared to the remaining ones, that's where the head gasket is blown, at that cylinder. If your maf sensor is installed before the turbo, any air that gets ingested by the engine which hasn't been metered already, is considered a vacuum leak.So the area between your turbo and manifold that you stated had smoke coming out of it, is a vacuum leak.Vacuum leaks cause idle and rpm fluctuations like you're car is demonstrating. That area will also need repair 2stop leak
- Is the reason why a motorbike engine won't work in a car because they can't produce high torque at low RPM? I have a 1.3 litre Mitsubishi Colt. Maximum power output 94 BHP at 6000 rpm Maximum torque 92 FT/LB at 4000 rpm Honda 2017 CBR1000RR 1 litre Maximum Power output 189 HP at 13,000 RPM 85.6 FT/LB at 11,000rpm
- Exhaust help NA at high rpm? I have a 1993 honda prelude with a h22 type r head that revs to 8200 rpm. I have a Cold air intake in the fender and headers, the rest of the exhaust is stock and at around 7100 rpm i notice a lack in power. would a naturally aspirated motor help with a stright pipe the rest of the way or does backpressure need to be their as their are no turbo?
- Why does my 1997 crv RPM jumps up and down? My honda crv's rpm jumps up and down at random times on drive, park, or even when the engine is turned off. At the same time, the car would stall when driving (even at around 60-70+ mph) stepping on the car pedal and revving the car would stabilize the stalling. At low speed, 0-30mph, the car would stall and die. I can't figure out the problem! I bought new spark plugs, new distributor cap and coil (except the distributer itself) what can it be?
- Why does my car engine rev up and down? It revs up and down all the way up to 3x rpm and down? Also when i step on the gas pedal it revs up all the way to the top 8x rpm and stays right there even when i let go of the gas pedal. Please anyone who can tell me why this happens? This is a 1995 honda civic by the way
