Car sputtered and died when I started it?
I have a 2002 Honda civic. I've been having a problem where when I start it, it'll stutter for like 2 seconds and then start. This was happening for two weeks but when I was planning to go to school it would stutter and not start. What's the problem?
Sounds like a fuel injector problem. Maybe it is bad, maybe it is just dirty.
Try this- at your next fuel fill-up add either BG bg44 cleaner (about $15 per bottle) or Chevron Techron to the tank. Don't get the cheap stuff from Walmart or Target or whatever. Do this twice, at 2 consecutive and separate fill-ups where you have to do at least a half tank.
EVEN IF the problem disappears with the first treatment do the second one anyway.
If this doesn't work it is time for an actual tuneup and injector INSPECTION at a real mechanic (not a tire place or a muffler shop).
There are many possibilities for a no start and sputtering is not enough to go on. Do a fuel pressure test use the money bikeworks wants you to spend on junk and buy a test kit you can use forever.
- I let my car sit for 3 months and the battery died. I tried to jump it but it would start? I Tried jumping my car by connecting the jumper cable plugs to it for like 1 min and few seconds… Should I keep the jumper cables in longer or do I just need to buy a new battery. I drive a honda civc 2008. *Wouldn't
- My honda 2001 honda 400ex started smoking and lost alot of power? It smokes pretty badly like a 2 stroke and doesn't have power like it used to. Could it just be the head gasket it does have a litte oil around it? Or could it be more serious valves and rings?
- Bought a 1985 Honda inspector kid told me it needed new battery but started with jump got new battery and it was dead next day? Pretty sure its the alternator just wanted some second opinions also I got the bike for 600 dollars you guys think thats a good deal
- 50CC scooter randomly died on me and refuses to start again? I have a 1997 Honda Giorno and just yesterday it was running perfectly fine when it just randomly died, it didn't make any noises while still running, it just stopped. I have since topped up the oil and tried starting it numerous times (on the kick start) to no avail. I was told that it would be a spark plug problem but I won't have the tools to change it for another couple of days. Could anyone point me to other possible problems?
