Car starting problem?
I have a 2001 Honda Civic and it runs great but just recently it won't start & I have to pump the gas to get it to start and if that doesn't work I get a jump from someone. The fuel pump has been changed the other day and so has the fuel pump relay switch. But I'm still having the same problem. It has 191k miles.
Nice description of issue, as well as elaboration of t/s steps and maintenance. Thanks for that.
i don't have answer to your question. But have you owned the car from when it was new? How old is the battery. And is it the correct size? Have you had the belts/w-pump replaced? These items should be replaced every 125k miles ($750 appx). As to your other problem. I'd suggest a forum that specializes in hondas.
hondas can last a long time. Driven highway miles, you should have no problem reaching 500k on the odometer. Just keep those timing-belts changed.
Replace the battery. No joy, get a tune up. Check for spark while cranking. If the car has a distributor, check the igniter and ignition coil.
When was the last time the gas filter was changed?
- Why is my car not starting? I have a 1992 Honda prelude is and I just got it out of the shop today! They replaced the timing belt, head gasket and some other gaskets. It was driving on my way home and I hit a pothole and it turned off. After that it drove home fine and now I'm trying to start it now and it won't turn off
- I have 2004 Honda Pilot starting problem. The car starts when the gas are press lightly? But if the car misses to start on the first try, it would be hardtime, sometimes I need to try 4 times with pressing the gas all the way to get started. All of you input and help is highly appreciated.

- After replacing our car battery, our remote starter just turns and turns without actually starting the car? My wife has a 2010 Honda Fit and we just had to replace the battery. We got a remote starter installed from Best Buy in either 2010 or 2011. But after the recent battery replacement, the remote starter responds by just cranking and not starting. It does like three sets of cranking before stopping. I don't remember the brand of remote starter, but anyone have any insight of what I need to do?
