Car won't start after driving through deep water?
I drive 2001 Honda Civic LX. Had to drive through deep waters to get home from work yesterday. I made through the worst of it and then drove for another 20-30 minutes till i got home.Brakes were making a funny noise and front right light gave up. Also most of my dashboard lights went off. After getting home i went back to the car and tried to start it and all it did was give this clicking noise and wouldn't start. Any ideas what i should do? Keep in mind i'm a total newbie when it comes to cars and engines.

Keep in mind i'm a total newbie when it comes to cars and engines. I have seen this a few times. When the water was deep enough, it got into the cylinders via the air intake system and stalled the car. Upon cranking, seized the motor. My friend with a truck did it and was lucky enough to only soak the alternator and short it out, which sounds more likely to be the case in your situation. Most times water deep enough to get into the cylinders will freeze the motor almost immediately, whereas you got 20-30 minutes of usage, so that tells me it is more likely you were running off of the battery alone until it drained.
My best advice would be to charge the battery and see if it holds a charge/starts the motor.
Additional: See if the battery holds a charge and so on as above. If it starts, most likely there's no engine damage, then get the charging system checked Park it in a Warm Garage. It can take days to dry out.
When it thaws it will be fine.
NEVER drive through water that covers the rubber of the tyre to the metal rim.
Brakes FREEZE, Water contaminates wiring connections, leading to Corrosion,
Water Pools also may conceal missing Manhole Covers, and Sink Holes. The possibility exists that it's completely ruined. (Water is not kind to underhood parts.)

- How can I stop water from flowing back into my Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet when the heavy duty hose attached gets blocked? I have a 1000l take of water attached to a Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet, alongside a heavy duty hose I use to water window boxes around London. When I park up the van and have to cross the road to water certain jobs, the pipe is occasionally temporarily blocked when a car runs over the hose pipe. This sends water back to the pump, and eventually breaks it. What can I do to stop the water/ pressure breaking the pump?
- Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
- Honda Jazz won't take water in the water fill cap? I recently purchased a Honda jazz 2005 mode from a garage, top condition. I'm going on a long journey tomorrow and routinely like I would with any car I checked the water and oil levels. (cold engine). Water level was halfway between min and max so I attempted to top it up with coolant mix, however, as in poured the h20/coolant mixture into the water tank it just came straight back up as though the tank was full, although I can see it's only half full. Any ideas?
- Won't start not sure if water pump needs replacing or needs new engine? 2004 Honda civic DX 1.7L engine 155k? My car won't start i had to press the gas really hard to get it going before but now it started smoking(white) from under the hood and smelling burnt every time we try and start it up. I saw leaking under the car. Probably the coolant because its blue. Not sure if a new water pump and timing belt would do the job and or if we need to swap the entire engine. Before this I noticed that the engine would get hot or shut off whenever we stopped moving and finally this happened.
