Civic is making high pitched noise?
I drive a 2009 Honda Civic LX. I have never had issues with my car before. It has roughly around 75,000 miles on it. Lately, I have been noticing that my civic has been making a high pitched noise when I put it into drive. The sound in itself seems to be coming from the front left side of my car (possibly tire). I can only assume the location of where the sound is coming from based on my front window being down. It's very noticeable at very low speeds. When I press on the brakes, the noise stops. It sounds is like two metal objects scraping against one another. The noise isn't consistent, when i'm driving on the highway, it comes and goes. However, the noise seems to be the strongest when I first start my car and begin pulling out of a parking lot and start driving at lower speeds. Could it be my brake pads worn down? I always thought that the brake pads start making a high pitched noise when you press on the brakes, however that is hardly the case or actually the complete opposite with no sound when I press on the brakes. I have never had anything done to my civic nor have I changed the brake pads. I regularly get oil changes. Can someone please provide me with some insight?
Wheel bearings, brake pads or shoe worn out and the metal part start to rubs against the rotor or drum, brake backing plate bent and rubs against the rotor, brake rotors are out of round and the friction creates by the pads and the brake caliper guide make that sound, brake hardware is missing (Shims, springs etc), caliper is sticking.
Brake noise upon driving and disappear after the first few applications are considering normal due to the pads/ shoes material (Mostly semi metalic)
A few ideas so you can see what you have to look for. Good hunting for the high pitch noise and good luck to you.
Edit: E mail if you need more help.
I have 2013 civic and it does the same thing with 10k miles and the dealer says its normal… Well they will say that until warranty expires after that then ya they will fix it since they get your money…
- Why is my ac making a rattling noise when I turn it on? 2001 honda civix lx. Its making a rattling sound when I turn on the a/c. Just changed the a/c compresor and recharged it. It blows cold air when I turn it on but it makes a rattling sound anyone know why this might be happening?
- I drive a 2013 Honda civic is making humming/winding noise? Noise occurs upon acceleration and deceleration. The pitch coincided with the speed of the car. Not necessarily the throttle. Car seems to shift just fine. Slight vibration in the pedals. No jumping or sputtering. It does however seem to come from the front of the car. Any thoughts?
- Honda Civic making weird noise while turning after running over a curb? I have a 2010 honda civic and I ran over a curb the other night and it made a pretty bad sound but nothing was hanging and it drove just fine. But now, 3 days later, its making a weird noise when I turn. Wondering what it could be?
- AC making loud vibration and revolving noise on 2002 honda civic lx? The noise doesn't always happen when the ac is on but it does for most of the time. It happens more loudly than normal and more often than normal whem I've been driving the car a lot that day. What could be making this noise? The compressor? I just replaced front and rear sway bar links, outer passenger tie rod, and exhaust manifold.
