Could I take a car window out of a 98 ranger to put in?

My 2000 Honda Civic? The window in the ranger is a tad wider than the one in my civic could I cut the glass? Can't really afford a new window.

Sure

No, for one thing you can't cut that kind of glass. For another, it may not even fit the window mechanism. You could replace it with lexan, but that would likely be a temporary fix. Call around to some junkyards and see what one costs used.

Couldnt you try a salvage yard, am sure they have plenty of windows for honda"s.

If you can't afford a new window, you DEFINITELY can't afford to have ANY glass cut.

You can't cut tempered glass, it would have to be untempered cut then tempered again a process that would be way more than the price of a brand new window that is already the right cut, curve, and mounts in the right place. It would be a real good guess a used one from a salvage yard would be $20.

No - any attempt to cut the glass will cause it to shatter immediately

You can't cut the type of glass made for cars. It is entirely a different type to window glass in the home. It is designed to shatter into tiny granules when in an accident. Window glass in the home breaks into large pieces of glass.

There are just far too many variances there. The shape, arch, thickness and more. Get the correct part or you will be doing it again.
