Did I damage my car by forgetting the emergency brake was on while backing up?
Yesterday I was backing out of a parking spot that was in a slight inclune. The car backed up a bit but there was a car coming so I stopped. Once the car passed I continued to step on the gas to reverse but the car wouldn't move. I took my foot off and pushed it again. Maybe did this two more times before I realized my emergency brake was on. My question is did I damage anything by doing this? I have an automatic transmission and the car is a 08 Honda Civic hybrid.
No you didn't even wear down the e-brake by driving with the brake on.
Perhaps you should look at the dash lights more often. I'm sure that bright red light that spells out "BRAKE" was on!
You should be fine.
Not really, you caused a bit of wear on the brakes and clutch.
No, you didn't hurt it any, it should be fine since you didn't take off driving with it engaged.
Shouldn't be a problem.
Not at all.
Yes. If the car was moved at all while the parking brake was applied then you may have caused serious damage to your parking brake system. This could result in total failure of the parking brake and or ruin/ warp your rotors. Your best option is to take it to a shop and replace the brakes and rotors.
No - nothing to be concerned about at all
I don't know
- Why did my 2003 Honda Pilot engine just died while i was driving around 30-40 miles per hour? It virbrates every now and then when i hit 35-40 miles really bad of the whole car and I also have a check engine light and vtm-4 light on. - Accidentally drove in 2nd gear on highway with automatic. Did I cause any damage to my car? I didn't get much sleep so this morning I was little out of it. On my 15 minute commute to work I accidentally put my automatic car in 2nd gear instead of drive. I drove on the highway for 5 minutes going 60. I didn't notice until I got to work and realized that's why my car felt a little different while driving. It's a 2002 Honda crv. Could I have caused any long term damage?
- Why did my 1997 honda civic die out while driving? I have a 1997 honda civic and while driving the rpms dropped to 0 and the car eventually shut off. It's never happened before and now it cranks but doesn't turn over what do I do?
- How can I use the Honda lane watch camera in a 2016 Honda Civic while backing up? I'm trying to figure out a way to use the lane watch while backing up. I tried pressing the lane watch button however only the regular backup camera remains displayed. I want to use the lane watch for tight spots
