Does a 1989 Honda Civic have any airbags?

Maybe on the driver side.

Very unlikely, but if it does it would be indicated on the centre of the steering wheel and perhaps on the dash as well. And if it does, they would no doubt need replacing by now as they could trigger at any time for no reason, possibly resulting in an horrendous accident. If you already own the car, get it checked by a mechanic. If considering buying it, ask the seller, but also check with an auto club or local mechanic.

You could have Googled that and had your answer by now.

FAIL.

The answer is yes. They had a single driver's side airbag. Passenger side was optional. At that age don't count on it working unless you replace t.

No

Turn the key on and look for the SRS air bag yellow light on the dash.

No.

1989 is the last year Honda used an automatic seat belt restraint system. 1990 was the first year air bags were mandatory.

Mine did until I kicked the mother in law out of it.

  • Is it a bad idea to buy a stock 1989 Honda Civic SI? It has 179000 miles on it, has a new clutch, and looks great. Hes asking 1900. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/4590735246.html
  • Does anybody have any clue or idea when the 2017 Honda Civic SI will be out this year? So I need to purchase a new car soon, and I been wanting to get the new Honda Civic SI that Honda said would be released sometime in early 2017. However it's already Spring and Honda has not released any information about the car yet. That being the case, will the Civic SI hopefully be out by summer? Because I'm hoping to purchase one soon.
  • Disabling airbags before parting out? I have a 2001 Honda Civic that I'm parting out, should I be concerned about an accidental firing when dismantling, how can I disable or if best acitivate them all. I don't really feel like getting slammed in the face when I remove the steering wheel or something. Does me unplugging all the sensor completely open that system?
