Does driving on extremely rough roads damage your car?
I was driving to my friends house for the first time a couple days ago and I got lost. I ended up having to drive up this road that was all dirt, extremely cracked and had bunch of crevasses. My car was lurching pretty hard as I was driving up. Does driving on a road such as this cause any problems for your car? My car is a Honda civic 2014 and I was going as slow as possible up hill.
In general yes, but the amount of damage can be reduced by driving slowly
(Others are assuming your were doing 50mph)
NO. Not if you were driving slow like you say
I had a 1979 Honda civic - they were MUCH MUCH more fragile than yours and I'd drive it around (well, I was a Honda mechanic at the time - didn't care much about damaging it any) like a pick-up truck.
I had it for 3years - never had to even change the break pads!
A honda civic was not built for that kind of situation. Most likely it's fine, but if any actual problem occurs, get it checked As soon as possible
It's a bit harder on the suspension and will wear out the shocks faster.
But as long as you aren't driving too fast, no big problem.
Lots of people live on and travel those rough back roads every day, and their cars handle it.
Front end might get knocked out of alignment depending on how many big pot-holes you traversed at speed.
- Does shifting in an automatic damage the car? My car (Honda pilot 2011) has a 1/2/3 setting on the car and if I use that while driving will I damage anything? I typically use it when I'm driving for fun and shift it at red line and then shift it back into drive at the end of 3rd gear. My old car was a stick and I miss it but will it hurt the car besides the normal wear and tear?
- How long does it take for loan max to repossess your car after your loan due date in Ohio? I took out an $800 title loan on my 2000 Honda Oddyssey (188,000 miles) and I can't make the initial repayment amount of $288 on time. How long will it be before they send someone out to repossess my car? I live in Ohio and I'm really afraid they will repossess it before I can come up with the cash.
- Car was extremely low on gas and I stalled while driving slow? Car was extremely low on gas and I stalled while driving slow. I immediately turned off the car. After 3 seconds I turned the switch and the car started and I drove 1 mile to the nearest gas station. My question is was this stall area from low gas? The car didn't do it again drives great. Its a Honda crv 1998 automatic.
- How to get out extremely difficult spark plugs? My car is a 2006 Honda Civic. It's 1.8 liter I changed 2 spark plugs but the other 2 absolutely can't get out. I had a guy friend whose pretty built try to remove it but he almost pulled his should trying. I need to know if there's anything I can use to get it out. I also don't know if it's possibly cross threaded. It's a used car.
