Does my Honda Civic have a bad thermostat, bad water pump or blown head gasket?
So my Honda as I was driving yesterday over heated. My heater started blowing cold air. I pulled over let it cool down open cap saw it had leaked all the antifreeze on the ground. It need some antifreeze which I had Some in back trunk. I then drove back home careful heater worked again and it didn't over heat. Today I open the radiator cap turned the car to burp the cooling system cranks heater up. Didn't take long to warm up as I felt heater blowing warm air. I kept topping off also as it need some. I noticed however after about 10 minutes on the temperature gauge it said the car was cold still. Got off and felt the radiator hoses the top one was hot and bottom one was cold. Again I check and temperature gauge still said cold. A little smoke was coming out exhaust probably cause it was cold outside though. Car didn't over heat this time. What's going on though why did it over heat on me yesterday?
W/o a visual inspection, all you will get here are guesses and my guess is to replace the thermostat 1st, BUT also suggest you have a mechanic do an inspection
- Would it be, a bad idea for me to try and fix a blown head gasket? Its for a honda. Stock d16 aftermarket rims and is 1500 with a blown head gasket. My dad is the best honda mechanic in my town. He would be guiding me through it. Also the car had 137k miles and good paint. How much would it be worth if it was fixed?
- How can I stop water from flowing back into my Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet when the heavy duty hose attached gets blocked? I have a 1000l take of water attached to a Honda WB30 Water Pump 1100 LPM 80mm Outlet, alongside a heavy duty hose I use to water window boxes around London. When I park up the van and have to cross the road to water certain jobs, the pipe is occasionally temporarily blocked when a car runs over the hose pipe. This sends water back to the pump, and eventually breaks it. What can I do to stop the water/ pressure breaking the pump?
- Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
