Does plasti-dipping the rims/front grill void any warranty or lease terms?
My friend leased his 2017 Civic, and he wants to put a coating on the rims cause he wants it all black and also the front grill.
He said the plasti dip comes off very easily so if Honda does a tire rotation and they notice its black he can just tell them that it comes off.
Like its not like he is physically changing anything to the car.
Honda doesn't care. As long as he can return the car to stock condition when it's time to turn the car in at the end of lease, he's fine. If not, he will be financially penalized.
It won't void your warranty or your lease terms but when it comes time to give the car back. They're going to expect the car back in the same condition that it was in when you rented or at least it. You can't tell the people so it comes off easy and expect them to take it off for you. If you want to get your deposit back!
When you take it back to trade it in or end of lease you have to remove the plastic coat or they will charge you. And don't be fooled plastikote isn't all that easy to take off once it's sat on your car are your rims for 6 or 7 months it's a real job to get it off!
When you lease a car, you need to return the car in the same condition you received it in.
- all factory parts
- if something needs replacement, it needs to be replaced with a factory part
- no dings or dents.
Your friend can change the rims & grill as long as he can change it back to the original with no damage to the car, prior to returning the lease.
- seems like a ridiculous use of money, but your friend doesn't make the best financial choices… Leasing a civic (just shaking my head)
I would strongly advise against doing this to a leased car.
