Engine swap on a 2014 honda civic lx?
I came across a 2014 civic lx coupe, it has a blown engine so it will need to be replaced no matter what, I was wondering if I chose to not put a stock motor in it could I put in something a little stronger like a CLA45 AMG from a Mercedes or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder?
Like Skippy said, also changing a car from an engine & tranny designed for FWD to RWD would most certainly cost more than a new 2014 Civic, Two. Dreams are great, but that is a pure fantasy unless you have like $100,000 to create a total custom car here.
Sure. It would probably be expensive and may take some cutting and welding and parts fabrication. My son's buddy put a 6Bt in a Corvette because everyone said that it couldn't be done. He is getting about 700 hp out of it and smokes all of the other 'vettes.
Engine swaps depends on motor & transmission mounting points,
engine bay clearances, drive shaft lengths & hood clearances.
If you don't uses the same transmission then there's bell housing issues. Just basic compatibility.
HOWEVER, if you could shoehorn the Mercedes engine/trans combo into the Civic you would have one of the sweetest "sleeper" on the road!
The car is still under factory warranty.
- I have a 97 Honda Civic Ex engine Swap from a 99 to 2000 honda Si? I would like to know if i can fit a b16a2 i believe? Engine to my 97 civic without any modifications? Because i just want to take out the current engine and place the SI engine in a quick simple manner.
- Can a 16.L engine fit into a 1998 Honda Civic LX? (before doing engine swap)? I had an blown motor on my 1998 Honda Civic LX, I have new spark plugs, distributor cap and some other items, however, since the old spark plugs happened to be melted as well, I have no option other to do a engine swap. I've been doing some research, and it seems like I only have the 1.6L engine as a option. By the way, the blown motor is a D16Y8, and is automatic.
- What is better a 2014 Honda Civic or 2014 Toyota Corolla? I'm looking at these cars in terms of price and more "bang for your buck." Both seem interesting to me and I have yet to test drive them. The Honda Civic seems like it is the better car based on reviews but the newly redesigned Toyota Corolla looks better than previous versions and is slightly cheaper than the Civic. Which one should I consider looking towards? Please do not mention any other car, I'm only focused on these two at the moment.
- What engines can I directly swap my D16y8 Honda motor for? It has to be more powerful and easy to swap? I have a civic with a d16y8 and its served me well but what motor could I easily swap in? I want to use the same gearbox but I don't mind swaping the ECU. The easier the swap and the more HP the better. Would prefer to use the stock manifold and intake etc.
