Expected maintenance on Mercedes C-class?
I've been driving a 2000 Honda Civic for the past year and a half with about 260k mileage on it. Although it has served me well, I want to sell it and upgrade because I feel I deserve it. After careful consideration. My prospects are of a Mercedes Benz C class. I hear they are more reliable than other classes (or so I'm told) & I know a MB mechanic who can work on it for less than what they ask at the dealerships. I just want to know if there's any valuable information to give on what class you think would be an easier maintenance even with a MB mechanic on hand. It'll be a used one from 2000-2003.probably about 120k to 150k. Just want to know how much I would expect to spend on it yearly & whatever else knowledge you could give on this subject.
Another case of misguided thinking as to cars. IF you know of a mechanic that works on Mercedes-Benz why are you not asking him directly?
Which C-Class? There were various ones available those years with 4 and 6 and even a V8 ( if you're considering a 2000 C43 AMG ) cylinder engines, both naturally aspirated and supercharged. If you're asking from Europe, there were also diesels available.
Also, the '00 was the W202 chassis while the '01 and newer is the next generation W203.
Get a full inspection dine by your enlightened friend. The thing about Benz and all other euro cars is PROOER OIL AND FLUID CHOICES! NO VALVOLINE KR ORESRONE MAY EVER BE USED IN THEM EVER. Proper oil is Pentosin and RAVENOL and Total Energy oil from France. Also Amsoil Euro and PENNZOUL ULTRA SURO that earns you a 15 year 500 k mile warranty. Other than that have All FLUIDS changed every five years including BRAKE FLUID Expect no other expenses but tires and brake pads. I restore them. All Euro cars use the same identical supplier companies. ZF tyrannies a d steering gear, Bosch injection and ignitions ATE Hurling brake systems and same fluid steel and oil refineries. Even same seat builders. Oil change centers ruin many Euro cars with inferior oil and fluid top uos. Remember that all euro cars were built to take on the Autobahn at speeds over 140 Mph safely and efficiently. Even many engine parts are sypokied, like Mayle pistons Hepu water pumps and chain yensioners
- What do you guys think about the 2015 Mercedes CLA-Class? Personally I think that it has the price tag of a Honda and the maintenance costs of a Mercedes. But what do you think?
- I'm stuck: BMW or Mercedes? I'm 16 and am looking to purchase my first car. I really want a German performance car My budget is $15-20k, and yet I can't decide between a Bimmer or a Benz. What type of car would you guys recommend (preferably 2007 and up). PS I hate Hondas and Toyotas
- Should I trade my 2013 Honda Civic EX with a 2011 Mercedes C300? I have a 2013 Honda Civic Ex with only 6000 KM on it. I bought it brand new for around $24000. but now I regret not following my heart and not buying the Mercedes C300. Would you trade in your new 2013 Honda with a used 2010/2011 Mercedes C300 with around 50,000 KM on it? Why and why not?
