Grindy noise manual civic?
Honda civic 95 4dr it has some after market parts like breaks and carbon filter and Vtec, when i step on the clutch pedal i hear a grindy noise until i let up, also since this has been happening i noticed the headunit hasn't come on either, any ideas?
Added (1). Also note; when i step down on the clutch pedal and the noise sounds the break light comes on and the check engine light goes off (it's on permanently cuz dude screwed a bolt in the oxygen sensor)
Also note; since i posted this 4 hours later i started it up and noticed the head unit worked again and now the clutch doesn't make noise and i took it for a spin and everything works like normal
The brakes, the cabin filter (Is that what you mean: Carbon filter?) and the VTEC has nothing to do with the noise you've heard when step on the clutch. If it's the throw out bearing it would make noise with the clutch in and go away with the clutch out. Bad pilot bearing in the flywheel will make noise all of the time.
As you describe, it could be the throw out bearing but it could be the input-shaft bearing, a common problem with all Honda manual transmission in the same era, it just seems to happen sooner in some models compared to older Honda. Read what you typed: " when i step on the clutch pedal i hear a grindy noise until i let up."
To replace the input-shaft bearing it you have to drop the transmission and open up the case to get to the bearing. It's not a bad job but still time consuming and it will be expensive if you not DIY. Eventually the noise will get louder and you will probably have trouble shifting because the main shaft is wobbling, this is when it needs to get fixed.

Regardless throw out bearing or input shaft bearing, the transmission has to be removed for replacement of either bearing.

By the way, what did you do to the VTEC system? What do you mean when saying this: ". Also since this has been happening i noticed the headunit hasn't come on either" Head unit? Which one? The radio head unit or the Head cylinder unit (VTEC component). Can you verify what did you mean? HTH
As a pure guess, the clutch throw out bearing is failing.
- We have a 2006 Honda CBR. When you drive it, there's a loud whirring noise coming the back underneath side. What could cause that noise? The noise is situated around a CV boot on the left underneath side where the differential connects to the middle.
- Known problems for a 1998 Honda Civic with a manual transmission? I'm looking to buy a 1998 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. I want to know the main problems with these cars. I know a lot of people dislike these cars and call them "rice burners" but I like them in my opinion. **Good comments as well as bad comments**
