Have a 99 honda civic put new pads, master cylinder and bleed breaks, pedal hard when running but turn off car pedal goes soft?
Did you bleed the master cylinder.
That's normal. The power assisted braking needs a vacuum produced by the engine to function as intended. Switch the engine off and the vacuum disappears quite quickly resulting in a soft pedal. The braking function is still there but you need much more effort to apply the brakes.
Remove the master cylinder and bleed it on a bench. Reinstall the master cylinder and bleed the brakes normally. Clean the slide bolts.
Normal operation… And its BRAKES.
- My breaks pedal goes all the way down? I just changed the master cylinder and break booster on my 1997 Honda Del sol. The breaks still sink all the way down. I still have yet to bleed them. But how big of a difference will bleeding the air out of the system do the my sinking break pedal. Or is there another reason my break pedal would be doing this? Keep in mind I haven't bleed them yet. Any help would greatly be appricated.
- Car is making a really soft hallow whistling sound, but only when idling Is this something that requires immediate attention? There's no performance issues but I'm wondering if it can snow ball into something worst. It's a 2004 honda civic 180, xxx miles
- 97 Honda Civic, new clutch and pressure plate but won't come out of gear and clutch pedal won't release? The clutch feels backwards now, won't switch gears unless the car is off and the pedal is all the way up. When you start it in gear it will not come out of said gear unless you turn the car off. The clutch pedal will get stuck down and the car will roll in whatever gear you put it in, when putting the clutch pedal down is supposed to release the clutch… It does not
- 4 cylinder vs 6 cylinder vs 8 cylinder vs 10 cylinder? Which is better to get? On small sized cars such as Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer and Toyota Corolla you're stuck with 4 cylinder, since 6-cylinder is not available as the option What if I get v8 or v10 vehicles… Is there any problems?
