Honda Civic 06-11 HID conversion kit or replace ballast?
Hi have a 2006 Honda Civic Sport model which came with HID headlights as standard. Honda have diagnosed the problem as a ballast issue and quoted £400 fitted to rectify this.
I was wondering if it would be worth just swapping the whole unit out for a new HID conversion kit such as this one:
http://www.hidkits.co.uk/d2r-35w-xenon-hid-conversion-kits.html
Anyone done this before or know any issues that can result from doing this? Or if anyone has a better idea than this?
Thank you for your help in advance.
Added (1). Sorry forgot to mention… Its a problem with passenger side light, I have checked fuses and swapped bulbs to check they both work aswel.
I would stick with the standard units, even if it will cost £400 to repair. It is likely to be a long-lasting repair, using genuine Honda parts rather than a short-term fix using sub-standard parts that are cheap for a reason.
Try a scrap yard, those HID conversion kits are supposed to be tat (probably made in China)
Hi this car did not come with HID as standard as you will find out when it next goes for an MOT. As if this car is fitted with something like this it will fail an MOT as it is not standard equipment till 2012.
so if fitted they where not a standard fitting many are finding this out as MOT's become due.
so the agency which controls the MOT test stations has made it a rule they should be converted back to what they should be.
that agency as of this year 1st jan 2014 has the power tro crush cars which do not conform. Here in the united kingdom.
the agency is VOSA.
who will take owners to court who do not comply.
so fines are a result of modifications which should not be on cars before the date they where fitted to cars as standard equipment.
- Is it safe to put an HID bulb 6000k or 8000k on my current HID that is 4300k? I'm not sure what heat is my stock HID but I'm assuming It's 5000k or 4300k since it is still bright yellow and not on the bluish side. I was wondering do I just buy the d4s bulb? Or do I have to get a kit? What are the avaerage prices and are some of them bad quality ones? I don't know anything about lights I'm certainly not going to change em myself but have someone do it. This is for 2013 honda crz ex model low beam
- Right Headlight went out. I replaced both with 6k hid lights. Hid kit components are all brand new. Right headlight still didn't turn on? It's 91 Honda Civic sedan. Every other light works except that one headlight that isn't turning on as if it wasn't getting any current or something. High beams don't turn it on either.
- Honda Civic 1992 hatchback awd conversion? I'm 16 years old, I own a Honda Civic 1992 hatchback, it currently has a d15b7 motor. I'm about to start working a part time with my father and I'm very interested in converting my Honda into an awd, I know it's expensive but I want to do it step by step. So I would like a list of what I need to make this possible.
