Honda Civic 1992 ignition switch?

I have a 1992 Honda Civic and the car will start but when I turn the key over I have to hold it in a certain spot or the car will turn off. Everyone says it's the ignition switch so would I need the whole entire thing that has the big metal piece on it or just the part I put my key in?

It's neither of those. It's the electrical part that screws onto the end of the assembly opposite where the key gets inserted. Take the steering column covers off and you'll see the unit. Two or three screws hold it in place. Piece of cake to replace. Buy a new unit at Advance Auto.
