Honda civic 2015 won't start

I have a Honda civic 2015, it's fairly new. My battery completely died, and when I tried to jumpstart as usual (I've had ongoing battery isues for a while now) it did not start. At first I thought they were cables, so I tried another set of cables, when I connected the lines, sparks were produced and I could see smoke where the plastic lining on the clasps were melting. When I tried to take it off, it was extremely hot to to touch. This was really weird to me, this never happens. I connected them correctly, so I tried two other cables, same thing. I ended up changing my car battery, thinking my battery simply died. The car still won't start after changing the battery, and no lights come on when I try to start the car. It's completely dead. No response from pushing the start button. Did I short a circuit or is this a bigger issue than I originally thought?

Sounds like you connected negative to positive and positive to negative so your battery's destroyed time to get a new battery

A two year old Honda? Why are you not taking the back to a dealer and let them repair the problem under warranty?

Idiots that hook their batteries up backwards end up walking.

I think at some point you got the cables backwards and ruined the car. You are now stuck. Unsticking will probably require substantial application of money. Hundreds or thousands of whatever unit of currency you use.

Don't waste your time answering if you're gonna tell me I jump started my car battery wrong. I've done it a million times, I could do it in my sleep at this point. I did not incorrectly jump start my Honda. The lights will not even flicker when the push start is pressed, that indicates that it is not a battery problem, but something else with the starting of the car.

You need a voltmeter or 12 volt test light to verify the basic wiring. Starting with the 2 heavy battery cables and terminals.

Maybe, there's corrosion between the cable and the terminal?

I think you should take it to a electrician, he will know more. For accessories you can get from Amazon, eBay, Shopatronics, ect for a reasonable price.

Karma for buying a Japanese car

  • My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
  • I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
  • I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
  • How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.
