Honda Civic vs Toyota Camry? - 1
I'm a college student and I'm looking for a car that will get me through undergrad and grad school, so another 7-8 years. I want a car that is good with mpg, below or around $13,000, and will not break down too often, and if so they are minor repairs that are relatively inexpensive. I have narrowed my choices down to the Honda Civic and Toyota Camry, around 2006-2012. So I want your opinion on which you think is better. (By the way I have a 96 Camry that has almost 300,000 mi on it so I already kinda have some trust in it).
Toyota camry
Here's a challenge for you… Keep the Camry you have now and see how long you can make it last. There's a guy in up-state New York who drives a 1966 Volvo with more than 3 MILLION miles on it. Betcha can't make a Toyota last that long.
When my last daughter old enough to drive in HS, we gave her a 98 Camry with 21K miles on it, she drove it through college and now she's still driving it to her law firm on a daily basic and refuse to change to a newer car because it's her "first" car. The car now has 343,746 miles on it (I've just look it up)
She went through 3 timing belts, numerous drive belts and brake jobs as well as as 5 sets of tire and who knows about oil changes at about 3-5K miles intervals including fluid exchanges, a few suspension parts and…3 sets of spark plug. That it. The exterior could use a paint job though. Surprise me is the. Fuel pump is still the original pump.
Have your Camry check out for repair needs and do it and fix it up. You'll save money that way. You'll never know. Most of the vehicle in my household are Toyota and Honda with a few exceptions.
Edit: read the article about the Volvo:

Toyota Camry
- Which car faster? Honda civic si vs Lexus is300 vs lexus is250 vs toyota camry? Mainly speaking for something that has a little *** when you drive it down the highway and sounds like your pushing 500hp haha… Mainly just for looks but which car is faster or even sounds faster?
- Toyota Camry vs honda civic? Which would be better and why? I'm looking for reliability and fuel economy. Just need a daily driver to go to school back and forth. Going from NJ to PA 3 times a week, so I would be putting decent mileage on it. Have about 1500 to spend so it would more than likely be a 90s car.
- Honda civic vs Toyota Camry? I'm saving up for a car and I have about 600 so far. I'm only a junior but I plan to have atleast 5000 saved up by the end of my junior year if I work a lot. I want to get a car for about 3-3500 and I've heard civics and camrys are reliable and good with gas. I either want a 2003 civic or 2002 Camry, which one is better? And is there anyway I could get one for under 4000?
- Which car is better, toyota camry or honda accord if you plan to travel a lot? I'm trying to decide between the two. They look very similar. But in the end I would like a more reliable, stronger, resilient car that can withstand a lot of driving because I plan to travel with it. Which one is better quality and more resilient/stronger in the end?
