Honda help. 1995 civic hatchback si crank start rough idle dying car?
I'm driving my d16z6 vitara rebuild motor 3k miles since the build. With rods pistons. It was very solid no problems till this weekend.
this weekend i drove it for a while to my friends house. Up a hill. I parked my car for a while
i checked my engine. As soon i popped the hood i heard this weird sound like a backfire or something. So i checked the hood the fan turned on a couple of times
didn't hear it. I rev the motor medium revs.
no problems then i hear the weird knock like a loud starter clicking hard metal sound. The sound is behind the intake manifold block area? I couldn't figure out the stupid noise but it was loud.
okay i tried replicating the noise seems to come on after i rev the engine.
after a while i can't replicate to make the engine make the sound.
i'm very worried. I drove home managed to get home and didn't hear any weird idle noise or noise when driving.
i drove the car in the garage.
later that late night i drove the car to start it. I couldn't start the dam car?
i was worried i give it gas tried idled rough and it still died by itself.
the engine sounded rough couldn't even run.
the next day i took out the spark-plugs and all of them where fouled looking? Black and messed up looking.
i checked the ignition cap/rotor those where also looking.
i put the new sparkplugs in and it still idled but could start up rough.
surging like and rough idle. Constantly dying.
i took off the sp number 1&4 look not fouled. Only sp number 2&3 are fouled?
How your vacuum readings? Recheck the timing at the cam and crank marks, sound like it's off big time and possible valve train damaged. Do a compression test as well as the cylinder leak down test…
Go to this site and down load the FSM (Factory Service/ Repair Manual) for your Civic as well as the Honda engine swap manual. There are other useful manuals available. Do it before the Copy righted kicks in and the site will be shot down:

- How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.

- Hesitation and pulsing rough idle on cold start? 2012 Honda Civic, 165k miles. Been having a lot of hesitation off the line (picking up speed from a stop). When slowing down from 5mph to 0mph, and while stopped, my idle is rough and "earthquakey" in bursts. On cold starts my car idles rough and feels like a pulsating feeling like the car's going to die. RPMs on cold start are 1500 and take 10minutes to drop to 800. No codes, shifting is smooth. Any ideas?
