How many gallons of paint would I need to paint my car?

I want to paint my Honda Civic with my new favorite color: Steel Sapphire Metallic.

Automotive paint isn't sold by the gallon.

Painting a car is not like slapping Sears Weatherbeater on a wall. It's a job for a professional, and you're going to pay somewhere in four digits to have it done right.

It's not that easy, plus you can't use wall paint or whatever on your car it'll look horrible, there's special paint for cars. If you want it done right then see a professional…

Rough guess:

3qt base.
3qt color/flake.
3qt clear.

Figure about $1,500 in paint.

Then throw in $500 for a cheap paint gun kit.
$300 for sandpaper.
$150 for cleaners.
$100 for masking.
40hr for disassembly/reassembly.
40hr for prep.
20hr for wet sanding…

And it will still likely look like junk.

If you are asking, just take your car to a body shop. The result will be very much better.

If you just want to paint the outside, you should be able to do it with 4Litres (1-gallon). If you want to do under bonnet (hood), door pillars, shuts etc, you'll need about 1½gall. Same for Primer and clear coat.

Not manny just get a few gallons at walmart or home depot.

Sapphire. Yes!

That's what she said
