How much does a lock smith charge to only make a key for a car?

I have recently lost my keys to a 2000 Honda Civic LX car and I was wondering what the price would be to create a brand new key. I live in the New York area so any quotes from the New York area would be more desired.

Go to any local Honda car dealer with the VIN and proof of ownership for the car. Their parts department can cut new keys for you, and shouldn't cost more than $5 or $10 per key, UNLESS you have one of those keys with the security chip in it. THEN, it would cost a bit more.

If you lost all of the keys then you would have to go to the Honda dealer and show proof that you own the car. They will then make a new key for $200 to $300.

If you just want to make another key from the one you have then it'll be like $45.

I think you need to have all the locks changed, how else could you "just know" what key to make.

I suppose we could look up "locksmith in the new york area", which is fairly large and call around for you, but it's late and I doubt they'll answer
