How much is it to fix a rare view mirror?

I accidentally backed up and hit the gate on my drive way and knock out my driver side mirror. How much does it cost to repair? I have the part since obviously I just knocked it out. No mirror crack. I drive a 95 Honda civic.

Only the mirror? It might just press back into the "grippers" that hold it. Or, take apart the door and replace the whole unit. DIY or call the repair dept. Of the dealership.

If it's just the glass that's cracked you can buy stick on replacement mirrors.

Knocked it out? What does that mean. You mean the mirror and housing came off the door completely? Talk to a body shop. It might only be about $50

Mirror assemblies are fairly easy to replace. You'll have to remove the inner door panels in some cases to disconnect any electrical connectors if they're power mirrors, but to remove the mirrors themselves, they're usually held on to the car door by three nuts that threaded onto studs that are attached to the mirror assembly. They're normally hidden behind that small piece of trim in the inside corner of the door where the mirror assembly attaches from the outside. Once you remove those three nuts (they could also be bolts), the mirror assembly comes right out.

I've reattached many mirrors on Asian vehicles. Take the inside plastic piece off of the door in front of the window. Remove the 3 nuts and the studs that pulled out of the mirror. Somtomes you can epoxy the studs back into the mirror holes if the mirror didn't have the holes walls crack off too bad. If the hole walls are gone I drill out the holes in the door so a larger bold can be inserted and screwed into the remaining deeper holes in the mirror. I've found many times you don't even need to tap new threads into the mirror plastic and can just crank the bolts in carefully. Just snug the new bolts down until the mirror doesn't move or vibrate. It's easy to tighten the new bolts too much and strip them out so pay attention not to tighten them too much.

There's NO SUCH THING as a 'rare view' mirror. The rear view mirror is attached to the windshield in the center of the vehicle. The driver's side mirror is called a SIDE view mirror. The part CAN'T be repaired. The cost to REPLACE it depends on the make, model, & year of the vehicle.

I'm not sure, but probably a lot of money.

What I've used to repair those is "Weld-On" #16 fast set, clear medium bodied solvent cement for acrylic. It forms the material back together the very same way welding metal works. A tube costs about $5 at Tap Plastics, but lookit here: http://www.ebay.com/...0483851760

if you don't have a Tap Plastics store near you. You might pay a body shop $100 do what you can diy. You can bolster the repair with epoxy plumber's putty if you want it extra strong on top of the acrylic cement repair.

Remove the trim inside the car to get to the three screws holding the bosses of the mirror and unplug the wiring if it's an electric mirror so you can take your patient in the house and work on the kitchen table fixing it.
