1998 Honda civic dies after running for 6 minutes when it is 50 degrees or colder out. It will start right back up after waiting 60 seconds and run just fine for rest of the day. Looking for clues as to what can be wrong
One of the most two notorious common causes for such problem in all Honda in the same era is the ignition switch second to the Main relay.
In your case I would say it's the ignition switch that need a replacement. Read this to know how to check and replace the ignition switch:

The same thing about the main relay:

The third cause that need to be check out: It's the same testing for the 1.6L

- What else could could be wrong? My stereo in my 2002 Honda civic la sedan wasn't working right so I had a friend check it out. Be got it so my stereo would work but now the a.c stopped working. When you try to use it the fans turn on for a second then automatically switch off. The mechanic shop said I need to change the control panel but I don't want to get a replacement then this isn't the issue. Is this all I can do to really know. What else could it be?
- Honda Civic making weird noise while turning after running over a curb? I have a 2010 honda civic and I ran over a curb the other night and it made a pretty bad sound but nothing was hanging and it drove just fine. But now, 3 days later, its making a weird noise when I turn. Wondering what it could be?
- 96 honda civic running hot after a long drive at stop lightd? I have a 96 honda civic just changed water pump, thermostat and all belts. Having to check oil every day, losing coolant out if radiator cap which is also fairly new. My husband drives about 200 miles a day, at a constant speed car runs great at normal temps but in the afternoon on his way home as soon as he gets into stop and go traffic temp goes up. What should we fix next?
- 2005 Honda Civic running hot after replacing the radiator, heater core, and thermostat? Things I've noticed. It running hot is directly tied to me turning the heater and AC on. Usually turning the heater on would cool the engine down, but it makes the temperature spike. I replaced the heater core because it was leaking and I smelled antifreeze when the AC was on. The radiator is brand new. I've straight wired both fans to the battery.
