I have a 2000 Honda Civic with 140,000 miles on it. Do you think the timing belt has been changed?

I read somewhere that they are supposed to be changed at 105,000 miles, or seven years. My car has a lot more miles than that, and twice the age. Do you think the belt has been changed before? Or is it possible it's the original belt? Would the original have lasted this long?

It's possible, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Right? You might want to check it, or get someone else to check it for you.

Look at the timing belt cover and see if there's a stamp or sticker. If you do not see any, replace.

Unless YOU had it changed, the default assumption is it hasn't been changed.
