I have a flat tire. What should I do?

My parents bought me a new Honda Civic last year and it already has 7,000 miles as of today. Yesterday, I took my sister to a party and then Walmart and that's it. Later that day, someone told me that my front right tire is flat. I went to check and it was flat. I told my dad and he told me to take it to Walmart tomorrow and get it fixed. He said to tell them not to replace the tire since this one is already new. He thinks that there's probably a needle or something sharpe in the tire. How do I tell the people at Walmart to not change the tire but just take whatever that caused the flat tire out? Also is it safe to drive with one flat tire? Walmart is like 5 miles away from my house.

I would relay the message that your father told you to tell Walmart. If it makes you feel any better, ask your father or someone else to come with you. It's really not safe driving on a flat tire.

First of all, u sound like a 5 year driving for the first time, you can't drive with a flat tire, tell walmart you want to air it up.

Ask your dad to help you learn how to change your tire to the spare. Women should know this.

Driving on a flat tire will damage the tire beyond repair! Put the spare tire on for now and then only drive to get the flat tire repaired. Walmart will then change out your repaired tire and put your spare back in the trunk/boot spare tire compartment. Since the flat is on the front, it would be extremely dangerous to drive on the flat tire since it will also effect your steering ability.

What kind of Dad is your Dad? Mine would immediately go out and put the spare on the car for me. Then tell me to take the flat tire to get it fixed!

If you don't know how to replace that tire with the spare then find a friend or someone who lives nearby who does. If you drive on that flat tire it will be ruined and the wheel along with it. IF you make it to Walmart before you wind up in an accident or stopped by a cop for dangerous driving you'll be looking at a VERY EXPENSIVE new wheel and tire and possible body damage from pieces tearing up the fender.

Tell them you want the tire repaired. DON'T say anything about replacement. If, and only if, they say it can't be repaired, go back to daddy and have him walk you through deciding how to proceed.

Note: If you say you want the tire repaired, that is what they will do, unless they CAN'T. In that case, it doesn't really matter what your dad says.

When you do make it to wal mart after youve gotten it aired up, go into the car section and buy a 12 volt air compressor to carry in your car from now on. It will get you out of jams in the future.

The car should have a spare. Find someone that knows how to put it on and ask them to do it and show you how too. If you drive on a flat tire it will be ruined very quickly and will have to be replaced. The shop that you ask to fix it will have no choice if the tire is not safely repairable, you'll have to buy another.
If you can't find someone to help you with this then have the car towed to the nearest shop and join an auto club with roadside coverage right away.

You need to add air to the tire or put the spare tire on because #1 it's obviously not safe to drive on a flat and #2 you will damage the tire and wheel rim to the point where they need to be replaced and can't be repaired before driving to a repair shop. If you can avoid it, don't use a fix a flat product because it will create a big mess for the next person that has to service the wheel. Once you get there they will inspect the tire for the puncture and as long as the puncture is not on the sides of the tire or there's no compromising damage or wear, the tire can be repaired/patched for a cheap cost of around $15.

If you have driven on a flat tire (tyre in the UK) the chances are that you have damaged the side wall making it unrepairable and dangerous.
A tyre with a puncture can often be repaired if it has not been driven on when deflated.
A tyre with a damaged side wall (the damage is not visible from the outside) can't be repaired and could blow out at any time at any speed. It would be illegal to drive on such a tyre in most countries.
I would inflate the tyre before driving on it - carefully - and tell the tyre shop what had happened and ask them to see whether it can be repaired. Then I would take their advice about whether a new tyre was needed.
