I have a honda civic 03 thats overheating i paid to have the head gaskets cleaned i replaced the fan switch the thermostat and my car still
Overheats any suggestions?
Get the cooling system pressure tested.
You paid to have the head gasket 'cleaned' ?
The only thing that got 'cleaned' , was your wallet.
1) Head gaskets don't get cleaned, they get replaced. Cylinder heads can get cleaned (i.e. Decarbonized).
2) Get your cooling system flow tested. If the radiator is blocked internally, a flush might help, but it may need to be replaced.
A 15 year old radiator is probably half clogged. It would need replacing.
Does it have coolant in it?
Head gaskets don't "get cleaned". They get replaced and it costs a good $800.
Find a real mechanic!
Get a fail safe thermostat and recore the radiator
Thumbs to Anonymous, but would like to add to support: With a cooling system pressure test, you will be able to determine how well the cooling system is working, plus it will be able to tell if you have a headgasket leak. Better to diagnose it first before you start replacing things that might not need replacing. The test will tell you.
- I have a 1997 Honda CRV. I just replaced the thermostat like 5 days ago. Radiators been flushed as well? All the fluids are fresh and at the proper levels. There are no visible leaks of any kind of fluids but the car still overheats usually once its been driven for about 15-20 minutes. I take the radiator cap off and the coolant is not moving through the radiator. Would this be a water pump failure or could it be something else?
- Buying my first car and want to choose the right car I need something with a lot of room and thats safe? I've been looking at the honda crv, kia sorento, chevy traverse/equinox, acura mdx/rdx, nissan maxima and buick enclave. I really want something thats going to last atleast (6-8) years without having to replace the transmission or engine I want something very reliable and i'm willing to pay more for something that will last than having to replace major parts in a short time thanks for your help!
