I have a question when I'm able to buy my first car would a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis wouldbe a good first car for me or a Honda Civic?

Those big old rear-drive Fords from back then were pretty reliable. But a Honda Civic is also pretty reliable, and will slurp less gas.

An 18 year old American car will cost a lot of money to keep running. Whatever you do, pay cash for whatever you buy and keep saving money for the next car.

I wouldn't buy a car with more than 100,000 miles on it and a 1991 model probably exceeds that limit. Between those two, I would prefer the Honda Civic.

No contest, buy the Honda. The old Mercury will need regular repairs which won't be cheap. Of course the Honda might not be much better if it's old, has lots of miles, hasn't been maintained properly, or has been wrecked in the past.

My son's first car was an 1987 Ford Crown Victoria. He struggled to learn to drive and I wanted some metal wrapped around him to help keep him safe. One of the worst days for a parent is when they get their license and go solo. I paced around the front yard, praying, and straining to hear any sirens. *sigh*
