I'm not sure if this is serious problem?
Question for my car peeps Hey so I have a 2001 Honda Civic lx manual transmission and when I was in Park and the car was off I noticed the stick could change into the gears not even stepping on the clutch as I can remember it didn't do that before there would be a lock that didn't let them move until you pushed on the clutch. But I turned the car on and the stick won't change until change until I push on the clutch but so it seems fine. But I'm. Curious why does it. Move when the car is off? Can anyone tell me if I'm. Tripping or I should be worried or what? Anybody else's stick shift car do that as well?
Your tripping. I don't know of any manual transmission that has a lockout when off. The clutch needs to be pressed to start, as a safety. So you don't start in gear.
When engine is stopped and nothing turns in transmission the gears often line up so you can shift into any gear. When engine is running you need to disengage clutch to stop or at least slowdown gears in transmission so that gears match speeds to go into gear.
I think you need some auto/transmission theory to understand what your operating
The ONLY car I know of that really has a lock on a manual is on SAAB (reverse gear MUST be in for you to get the key out of the ignition) Honda do NOT have one. If you are going to drive a car at all STAY OFF THE DRUGS!
How can you have a manual transmission and "put it in Park"? You park a manual by leaving it in first gear and put the handbrake on. Any manual transmission will shift through the gears with out a clutch when the motor is turned off. The gears are not spinning so you don't need to push the clutch pedal to disconnect the motor from the transmission.
- Not sure what to get for my first car? So I'm a senior girl in high school who is about 5'4" and my parents are buying me a car for college. Now I can't get anything fancy like an audi or BMW, but I can get something like honda, hyundai, mazda, ford, etc. I want a car that is fuel efficient and looks good. I don't really want a muscle car or a super sporty car. I'm not sure what exactly what to get.
- O3 honda cbr954rr, trying to find certain bolts- not sure what they're technically called? Looking for new ones and having trouble finding them online. Not sure how to word the search. Replacing head gasket. It's the main bolts that hold the head to the engine block. There's 10 of them.Talked to a honda dealer and they said its just called washer bolts but cost $75.+ tax through them. When i search washer bolts even adding engine, head, cylinder head etc. Still find nothing. Anyone know where or how to find them?
- I have an eye on a few bikes, just not sure so I need some advice? My first VEHICLE was a Ninja Kawasaki 500r. I've been riding that since I was 16 and i'm now 20, so for four years. I've been looking at both a Ninja Kawasaki ZX -6r and a -10r. also looking at a Honda CBR1000RR. If you have any suggestions please comment. P.S. I'm looking for a brand new Motorcycle, I put way too much money into my current bike for what it's worth.
- Is a squeaking noise when you let off the brake pedal in your car a serious problem? Whenever I let off the brake pedal in my Honda, I hear a squeak noise. Is this something that likely just needs to be lubricated/cleaned on the brake mechanism, or is it signs of a more serious problem? It is not the brake pads; those have been replaced recently. Is this something I need fixed As soon as possible, (possible brake failure) or is it something that just simple (not serious ) maintenance?
