I need car help I think it's my brakes?
I bought a Honda Civic 2 Door 1994 DX no power window and it's not a hatch back. Forward wheel drive.
I changed both front break pads and the calipher on one side but my car will start to grab. It makes it hard to accelerate and then I check the brake pads and the brake pads are hot.
Whenever I accelerate and let go of the gas the car slows down.
And whenever I accelerate the car steering wheel starts to shake. I think it might be I have to change my other calipher as well because one froze up and I changed it but the other one he was able to push back in.
If one calipter freezes, your best bet is to replace them both. Then it needs to be properly bled.
A: L CARS require FULL PRESSURE BRAKE FLUID BLEEDS every few years or when it turns BROWN-ish! AS this fluid ages, it makes SEDIMENT that works it's way into SEALS and it loses BOILING POINT as well! EVENTUALLY it becomes TOXIC WASTE and LIQUID SANDPAPER with time! It cost about $100 or so to have this task done at a HONDA DEALERSHIP! They will use the EXACT RIGHT FLUIDS and TECHNIQUES for you!<<<<CALIPERS THAT ARE FUL OF SEDIMENT>>Must be EXERCISED back and forth several times in order to remove the SEDIMENT around the piston seals! OTHERWISE THEY WILL STICK! There are even CALIPER REBUILD kits with NEW SEALS< but most cars only need this EXERCISE of pushing the piston IN and OUT several times to cause the sediment to loosen prior to power bleeding! GRAVITY BLEED will do NOTHING! FORCE must be used! BYE NOW!
Should have replaced both brake calipers. That's a 20 year old car, parts need to be replaced.
Did you grease the caliper slides? It really doesn't sound like you know what you are doing.
