I Own a 2011 Honda Civic And the ac smells like mold when I turn on recirculation. What should i do? I've tired many things & won't go away?

Just turn the air flow ledger to the right to let the air from outside flow in for a week. Or just let the guy clean it.

Don't put it on recirculate.

On recirculate it's just recirculating the damp, stale air that's already in the car. Switch it to "fresh" or outside air. Only use recirculate when you absolutely have to. You might want to pay some attention to the cabin air filter if it has one.

You need to go to an AC shop. They have a product that kills the mold that's in the heater/AC box assembly. It's applied with a special wand that reaches the evaporator core to spray the treatment over it. The evaporator drain tube also needs to be cleaned out so that the water that condenses in the system can drain.

Tape cloths over the air outlets on the dash. With the system on recirculate and the fan running, spray the intake under the dash with Lysol The cloth will catch the spray coming out and the Lysol spray will kill the mold

You may have to repeat this several times but it will work

Mold on its own does not have a smell. What is rotting under the mold does stink.
Dry out the carpets. Check to see that the heater core rubber hose clamps are on tight by tightening them a 1/4 turn more… Using a screwdriver. Rubber hoses shrink so they are not clamped as tight so it leak out coolant under the dash into the carpet which travels underfoot under the floor padding and sits there.(because of gravity… It goes to the lowest point. How many clamps are there? 6 to 10 clamps… So that many places coolant could leak past under pressure.(I'm also counting the clamps in the engine compartment. All hose clamp may add up to 18. This is a start. Your "gate" may also leak… In the engine compartment. Usually they are REPLACED FOR NEW as the old one is wore out.
