Where do you live? In Canada or the northern states, you might want to get the recommended oil. In Florida, car should be ok. I say "should". If you are in doubt and you want to sleep better, get an oil change again and INSIST on 0W-20 oil.

That's an acceptable alternative. 0W-20 is best, 5W-20 is okay.

The oil will be a little thicker when cold, but both have the same viscosity at normal temperature. Only a concern if you live when the temperature plunges below zero, but the 0w-20 makes the engine easier to crank on those really cold days.

Just change the oil filter in 3,000 miles.

That is a very bad idea, You should always use the recommended oil. Know if you have an older car with a worn engine and is burning oil then that would be ok. But if the engine is healthy then its never a good idea because engines have lots of small moving parts and these parts were designed for a specific oil. So i would go back to the shop and get the recommended oil and have them do it for free because this is unacceptable.

If you have variable timed cams, they are operated partly with oil pressure, so having the right oil is more important in the long run. If you aren't going to have the shop put the right oil in the engine, spend a minute warming it up before driving from a cold start.
