I would like to add a bit more power on my civic. What's the best economically way to do so?

I own a 02 Honda Civic LX Coupe
The only modifications that it has is a short ram intake air intake I believe. Everything else that has to do with performance is stock.
I just feel like she's lacking power and would like to add a bit more.
I would like to know what I can do to my car to add some horsepower and torque here and there, and of course, what's the best and economical way.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions and to those who actually contribute great ideas. It'll be much appreciated.

Sorry buddy not a whole lot. You drive a 12yr old car the engine has seen better days and even new didn't have a lot of power. All i can tell you is make sure the oil is changed, plugs wires and pack is good. And leave it at that. Sure you can drop 500 on cat back but really only get 5-10 hp? MAYBE. Power and as you say "economy" or cheap don't go hand in hand. You want power rebuild the motor, get a better ECU, cheap ram air intakes only mess with the MAF, a well maintained car will out run and outlast a cheap bottom end ricer any day.

Depends what you consider cheap. You're sitting at probably around 120-140 hp (I believe that's what the older civics had.) you could always buy a used b18 or even a 2.2 prelude engine and throw it in there. My brother did the prelude swap on his and It gave him 210 whp and I think he paid 2k for the engine and the swap. And actually he had the tranny changed too since he went from auto to manual so, just guesstimate it at around 1k-2k depending on miles the engine has etc. The other thing you can do is get a exhaust job done, put on a cold air intake and maybe chip it.
