If I intend to buy my leased car do the miles still matter?

I leased a Honda Civic and only have so many miles on it. I was told by a friend that also has the same car but older model leased that if I go over my miles I have the option of buying the car instead of paying for the overage fees. Is this true? Because if it is I plan on buying the car either way so why should I stress my miles especially when I have so little.

Depends on the type of lease you signed. If it's a "closed-end" lease, then you turn the car back in and pay the mileage fees. If it's "open-ended", then you have the option to purchase the vehicle for a pre-determined amount.

Read your lease agreement, it'll spell it out for you.
