Installing vehicle automatic door locks?
I recently bought a 2011 Honda Civic DX-VP. This trim level sadly does not have automatic door locks and I'm already realizing how big of a pain it is.
I know that I can purchase kits online, from amazon or best buy, however I was wondering if anyone knew of any brands that they have had experience with before. Also, how would I go about installation- would any vehicle electronic shop know how to install them? Or would I have to purchase their own kits.
Also if you have any idea on how much an estimated price would be for all 4 doors to be converted to automatic.
It would be cheaper and easier to sell you vehicle and get one with electric locks.
Automatic? You mean power locks? Well, it's actually quite expensive. Not sure what these "kits" are, but you need a power actuator for each door. These can easily run 150-300 bucks EACH. Then you have to factor in wiring and supplies. Probably about 100. If you want to be able to use a remote, factor another 2-500. That's a lot of labor to pull the door panels apart, run wires, and everything else that needs to be done.
By the end, you could easily spend several thousand for this. Hardly worth it for the minor inconvenience it reduces. How is it possibly such a big pain?
- What does P mean on a parking ticket where your vehicle type is written? As in: Vehicle GRY HOND P? I received a parking ticket and really can't afford to pay it! My friend told me I should look for typos on the ticket in order to contest it. On the ticket where the vehicle type is listed, the line reads: "Vehicle GRY HOND P". I do own a grey honda, but I was not sure what the P stood for? I tried to google but couldn't find anything - please help!
- Trunk door latch loose and wobbly, door won't shut? I'm not even really sure what is holding the latch in if there are no screws there? Bough an 03 Honda pilot ex today. Anybody know what kind of screws go in there or whether I can just go to a mechanic or have to go to a dealer? I bought it from a private party
- How to remove the door panel of the back door on a 1999 honda passport? My push button on the outside of the back door has fallen into the door. I need to remove the door panel from the inside, but I don't know how.
- Honda Amaze automatic or Hyundai Xcent automatic? Which would be better purely in terms of performance, acceleration, smooth and fast gearshifts and handling, i mean the better drivers car. I know hondas transmission and engines are great, but is the hyundai as good too? Even though the xcent has only 4 gears, i.e. 1 less than the amaze, it has tiptronic, would this by any chance improve the driving experience? I sadly don't have the opportunity to test drive these cars.
