Is a 2000 Honda Civic at $1500 a good deal?

I'm trying to buy this car and it seems good expect the guy who is selling me the car says it needs front breaks and it need the carburetor clean should I buy?

No, that's a very bad deal.

Always pay a mechanic to check a car you are planning on buying, ( at a reputable garage) ask the person you are buying from to deduct the cost from the cost of the car if you buy it

Without thoroughly inspecting the mechanical condition, doing a thorough driving test and conducting an extensive review of ownership and maintenance records, I can't possibly say yes or no. Until you learn how to do these things properly yourself or you can afford to pay someone to do it for you, then you're simply gambling. It's no different than shuffling a deck of cards and expecting an ace turn up when you cut the deck, only it will cost you $1500 smackers if one doesn't turns up.

Hi it will not have a carburettor as it was fuel injection so more likely it has a fuel pump issue. Bad buy over 8 years old now only fit to make beer cans out of it.

Insufficient information to assess for sure but buying a car in anything less than full working order and accepting the sellers diagnosis of faults is completely foolish.
If the faults were that easy to correct the seller would do it and sell the car more easily and/or for more money

Yes! Its a good deal, if its in good condition.

  • What Is a good dirtbike for around the 1500 dollar range? I have been looking at honda CRF 150's for a while., The f version. I'm 13 and about 5'2. If anyone has any suggestions thank you.
  • Should I get an 87 Honda rebel for 1500 or a 15 Honda rebel for 4100? Both will have same insurance rate. I know the older one will have more problems to fix but is cheaper up front while the newer one cost more now but will have less problems in the future. Also in case you are wondering the 87 is a 450cc and the 15 is a 234cc.
  • My 1997 Honda Civic Ex idles between 1500 and 2000 rpms? My car is a manual and it is always between 1500-2000 rpms when I put the car in neutral, I could be driving it for an hour and it would still be idling between 1500 and 2000. What is the reason for this and how much would it cost to fix?
