Is my honda civic running out of gas fast?

I have a 97 Honda civic coupe DX that I put $20on gas and it went over half now after like 125 miles is 1/4 on gas. Is it just me or is it running out pretty fast. I just bought it 2 months ago maybe is sparkplugs or air filter but I want to know if that's normal then

I would recommend filling the tank until the pump shuts off. Drive until its low and refill again until the pump shuts off. Then divide the miles you drove by the number of gallons it took to refill - this gets you the exact mpg rating for that tank.

If the car was rated as 36mpg city/44highway then your estimated 27mpg seems reasonable. Consider the fact that in the 90's cars rarely hit their estimated mileage numbers, so it was probably closer to 33 mpg city when it was brand new. Then figure you have 17 years of wear & tear on that car, so losing 6mpg isn't that much.

You *might* gain a little bit by doing some basic maintenance like spark plugs, air filters, etc. But don't expect to get 36 mpg ever again.

Your Civic is getting the fuel performance pretty much within the expected specifications for your automobile.

Spark plug always paid for them self in gas savings

It is you, do the math. 125 miles on a quarter tank…27 mpg. Sounds pretty good to me.

That's pretty good bro
