Is this enough for a car? Something cheap?

So this summer i want to get a job to save for my first car. I don't want anything big maybe a honda civic. So i was wondering like in your opinion do you think working two months would be enough to save up for a car?

You have to bring work down to a per hour net after taxes. Assuming $6.50 after taxes per hour, it would take 320 hours to save up $2000.

That's about 36 hours per week for 9 weeks. Most kids can't get full time summer work.

And while $2000 will get you a much better car than $1000, there are no guarantees on any cheap used cars.

Working a teen part time job for 2 months will probably rake in about $1000 probably less.

And you could buy a car for that much but it will be rusty/have a million miles. Plus you have to count gas and insurance… It's probably not enough for anything nice.

Maybe, spends on how much you plan to spend, you will need to get insurance too.

Do work hard, work often, and save your money until you have enough, good luck.

  • If I drop something into the engine bay, can I unscrew the bottom of the car to get it? I dropped something into the engine bay and can hear it landed onto the bottom. On the bottom of the car is a metal sheet. I can't squeeze under my car, but I can feel there are screws down there. Do you think I can unscrew one side of the metal sheet (the side closest to the front bumper), bend open the metal sheet slightly, and poke a stick into it to retrieve what I dropped? I have a 2017 Honda CR-V.
  • Buying my first car and want to choose the right car I need something with a lot of room and thats safe? I've been looking at the honda crv, kia sorento, chevy traverse/equinox, acura mdx/rdx, nissan maxima and buick enclave. I really want something thats going to last atleast (6-8) years without having to replace the transmission or engine I want something very reliable and i'm willing to pay more for something that will last than having to replace major parts in a short time thanks for your help!
  • Will this be enough money to save up for a car? I'm 16 right now, and I work at a banquet center. I make minimum wage per hour for one day a week. (Sometimes two if it's busy). I get paid every Friday. So I was wondering if I save up my money, and put it in the bank would that be enough by the time I'm 18? I either want to buy a Pontiac g6 (2008- 2005) or a Honda civic (2009-2004). And they usually cost around 8k - 10k. I also have $3,100 saved in my account. Would this be enough?
