Known problems for a 1998 Honda Civic with a manual transmission?
I'm looking to buy a 1998 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. I want to know the main problems with these cars. I know a lot of people dislike these cars and call them "rice burners" but I like them in my opinion. **Good comments as well as bad comments**
These were great cars, The people who call them rice burners will make fun of any car that they are not driving. The only problem is that it is 17 years old and has likely had multiple drivers, many who may have have abused it.
I personally find the seats very uncomfortable. Others swear by them. Let your behind be the judge.
Those are pretty good vehicles but when purchasing any used vehicle you should try to find out if there's any maintenance records for that vehicle, some owners keep that type of info in the glove box. You can also write down the vehicle's Vin numbers that are on the dash or ownership and call up local Honda Service Centres or Honda.Getting a Car Fax report would be a good idea, also having a mechanic go over the whole vehicle before you ever agree to purchase any used vehicle is very important and a good idea too.Go online to Honda's web pg check out what service bulletins and factory recall issues that make/model has or call Honda up or go to your local Honda dealership with the vehicle's Vin numbers.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you can't go for a good city and hwy test drive and have the vehicle checked out by a mechanic of your own choosing my best advice is to walk away from it.
- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
- Are 1998 Honda CRV with manual transmission worth buying for 5000? I'm looking to buy a 1998 Honda CRV with manual transmission. The price is 5000 dlls. It is in good condition and the mileage is 140,000. Has anyone purchased a 1998 Honda CRV? Any advice? It is my first car and I do travel in the weekends out of town to visit family. - Why is my 2006 honda civic manual transmission going into gear revving up high and moving forward slowly? I'm not sure if my parking brake is stuck or not. It moves in reverse just fine. When i put it into first gear its moving forward very slowly even when i push the gas down all the way.
- How much would it take to replace an auto transmission to manual in a '93 honda civic? If it's not worth the time then I'm sure there's a way to make an automatic have a race like look. Such as new bumpers tail lights/headlights that will give it a solid look. Any sites or suggestions?
