Legal advice on a purchase of a unknown salvaged title vehicle?

I bought a 2007 Honda Civic in Feb. New to the military and far from home I got a car loan to purchase a used car to start me off. I got approved through Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union and bought the Civic from a private seller. Long story short i've had a coupe issues with the car and found out that Honda extended the warranty on what i needed to get fixed I contacted Honda and then was informed that it was not covered under warranty because it had a salvaged title. When i bought the car it had a clean title. The bank even ensured it was a clean title, they would not loan me the money if it was a salvaged car. Today I called my bank and they ran some reports on the car and they said it came up as a clean title. I then called the DMV here in Texas and had them run a report, again came up clean. The lady on the phone at the DMV asked who told me it was a salvage title so i told her what Honda told me. She ran some more reports and found it was salvaged in Florida but for some reason got a clean title in Texas she said she was unsure how this could have happened and needed to speak to the supervisor and they would have to call me back. She also informed me that the reason my bank did not pick up on the salvaged title is because they ran a blue title. I do not know where to go from here, someone has to be responsible for this, a typical car fax would not even pull up that this car was salvaged.

Carfax only reports what is reported to them.
talk with a lawyer.

Your car was title washed. Look it up. I bet the car has been registered in 3 or 4 states.

  • What if my salvaged title car is stolen? I bought my car back after an accident, so it has a salvaged title. It is a Honda. It runs and drives great and has for a few years since the accident. Someone tried to break in to it the other night which brings my question. What if someone did steal it? I don't have full coverage because I can't, but I love my car! How can I protect my assest?
  • What does P mean on a parking ticket where your vehicle type is written? As in: Vehicle GRY HOND P? I received a parking ticket and really can't afford to pay it! My friend told me I should look for typos on the ticket in order to contest it. On the ticket where the vehicle type is listed, the line reads: "Vehicle GRY HOND P". I do own a grey honda, but I was not sure what the P stood for? I tried to google but couldn't find anything - please help!
  • Yamaha TTR125L road legal in NY? My buddy just went to the NYS DMV and paid $65 for a registration and license plate for his Honda Rancher ES which is valid for one year. Can I do the same for a Yamaha TTR125L dirt bike or do I need lights and a motorcycle license to ride on small roads in New York State?
  • Lost title for dirt bike? I have a Honda dirt bike my grandmother helped me buy. We purchased it in 2004 and I was not 18 yet so it was most likely in her name although it was my job to help pay for it. She has since passed and the title information is not to be found. I have interest in selling the bike but I'm wondering how to do so. I'm wondering if I can sell it with a bill of sale and be OK or how I need to go about it?
