Manual car won't shift into gears?
I have a 97 Honda Civic EX with almost 130,000 miles. The other day when I was backing out of my driveway and went to put my car in 1st gear to go forward it wouldnand
Likely the the master or slave cylinder of the clutch has failed- tow it to the shop for diagnosis.
Your clutch master cylinder has become low on fluid. Get some brake fluid and only brake fluid! Top it off then pump the clutch pedal several times, it will get stiffer and start working again but you'll need to have the slow leak repaired.
My guess is your clutch is completely worn out and needs replacing.
Clutch ot a gear selection cable has failed.
- My 1999 manual honda prelude does not shift into 5th gear or reverse smoothly? My gears are smooth from 1-4 but then takes a lot of effort to go to 5th or reverse. Also when you get out of 5th or reverse it doesn't go straight into neutral like a normal manual car. They still work but it is very annoying that i have to push it into the gears and pull them out. What could the issue be? Transmission? Shift box? I plan on changing to a short throw shifter in the future.
- My car turns over properly but the engine races and won't shift gears? I have a 2003 Honda CR-V with about 182,000 miles on it. Has been driving perfect until last night when I turned it on and the engine was racing like I was accelerating and I was unable to shift gears. What could be causing this and what kind of repair bill could I be looking at?
- Clunk every time I shift into reverse? I have a 2003 Acura RSX w/ 135000 miles. Every time I shift into reverse I hear a loud clunk I sometimes hear it but more faintly when it shifts to 2nd gear. The transmission shifts smoothly and I don't hear and grinding or any other abnormal sounds besides that clunk. What could the issue be? BTW honda/acura vehicles don't have ujoints since iv'e been told before it might be that.
- What is this loud noise when I shift into D? This only happens in the morning… When I shift into "D" there's a loud noise like loud chattering coming from under the hood. Only happens in "D" and only in morning. Never happens rest of day. It's a 3 year old Honda Civic with 60k miles.
