Your 93 Honda Civic is well past it's expiry date and has done great to last this long. To me sounds like spark plugs or the distributor cap has had it. Change that, or change the engine, or even better the whole car.

Replace the main relay.

If it has a distributor the distributor is likely bad.
If there's no distributor the crankshaft sensor is the likely culprit.
Check the wiring harness and connectors first.

Check for blown fuses… Fuse 31 underhood and fuse 24 under dash which power the main relay… Hard to locate that 24 one… Offset to right of other fuses… So make sure. Clean and tighten the G101 ground wire attached to the thermostat housing… Check for any loose, corroded or frayed wiring connections. Does the fuel pump run briefly when key is turned on? If not check for power at main relay. Does the main relay click when key is turned on? No? Might also be a bad main relay… Common issue. It could also be a bad sensor in the distributor… No rpm signal getting to ECM which will then not turn on fuel pump or spark control… Test distributor/wiring. Link below has testing process for main relay wiring and fuses… Read the entire post from Former User.

Underdash fuse locations…

We're not psychic. Have a mechanic diagnose it.

Hi so age you think has nothing to do with this state of affairs.

I suspect the ignition switch. If so, the warning lights will not come on either. Ignition switches were possibly the most common failure in that era Honda, battling with the "main relay" (fuel pump relay) for the dubious honor. Both tend to become intermittent. The ignition switch is a moderately easy DIY job, about an hour (2 hours for me… I work like a sloth). The switch part is replaced, screwing onto the existing cylinder. Do not overtighten the screws or it will snap in two… Guess how I know.
