My 2005 Honda Civic is overheating - 1
I have replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator, fans, fan switch, coolant temperature sensor, upper and lower radiator hoses, and overflow tank. It still continues to run hot. I have no water in my oil and no apparent coolant loss. When car overheats heater blows cold. What else could be the problem
The heater core is probably clogged and needed to be replace. Check the hose going to the heater core. If one is hotter then the other, it is clogged.
Seems to run hot.
Bleed the coolant. Pressure test the system.
I would say that your heater core is clogged, and the thermostat is not working, i've seen new ones out of the box be bad, so, replace it again and see if that helps.
Head gasket
Head gasket as a guess. Why do people start swapping parts and spending money for nothing instead of troubleshooting the problem? You should have the coolant system pressure tested.
The 'usual' cause of overheating is a leaking head gasket OR an overly-lean fuel curve after the easy ones have been eliminated. Have a compression check done on the cylinders and see if one is way down. If they are ok, check the O2 sensors, as they are the 'usual' cause of a lean fuel curve.
There's a leak. Have the cooling system pressure tested and test the radiator cap. Water pumps start leaking as they wear out and it could be leaking there. When cooling systems don't hold pressure the lower boiling point allows the engine to boil over and throw coolant. This will cost some money and overheating this engine can damage it. Also, have the radiator fan relay checked and if it's bad, replace it.
Heater blowing cold is a symptom of low coolant in the engine.
Not the coolant reservoir. The engine. The cooling system.
Some engines have an air bleed valve. If yours does, you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system.
If you had severely overheated your engine, you may have a warped cylinder head. One symptom is engine compression/combustion overpressurizing the cooling system and forcing coolant out.
Have the cooling system pressure tested.

- 2005 Honda Shadow overheating? I put new coolant in it, and it's still overheating. When I ride it, it gets hot, the temp light comes on, then the oil light. I've kept it parked since then, and it has plenty of new oil and coolant. What's the problem?
- Why is my 1998 Honda civic lx still overheating? I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, flushed the radiator and done a coolant test to check for gasses and all is good. The fan is wire up so it automatically comes on when ignition is turned on and is blowing the correct way. Do I need to try a new radiator cap or radiator? Engine light is on but it's for a 02 sensor. Any help is appreciated.
- I'm driving a 96 honda civic and my car has been shaking and overheating? I have check for leaks and everything is fine but i do have a rusted spark plug, i'm wondering if that may be the cause of shaking and excessive overheating to the point i'm driving with the heater on all the time. Can anyone let me know if the spark plug is the problem and if i replace this one rusted plug will the car drive back normally?
- My 2001 Honda Civic is overheating and I can't figure out why? I have replaced the radiator cap, coolant reservoir, and thermostat. Also, I check the fans at various times and everytime they are running fine. Lastly, I'm not sure if this information helps, but I live in southern Louisiana where it is almost always hot. I'm a poor 25 year old female college student and I have no idea what else to do.
