My car accelerates when I brake, Can I get a full refund?
I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic - 204000kms just yesterday in the province of Quebec. I bought it from a private-yet registered Dealer. A visual inspection and a test Drive was afforded to me yet that same evening and again this morning the vehicule began to accelerate when I approached a Stop sign - braking! My contract stipulates - bought as is under no gaurantee. Can I return the car for a full refund?
The term "as-is" means as-is. The time to find problems with a used car is BEFORE you buy it, not after.
My guess is that the car is not actually accelerating (increasing speed) when stopping, but only that the engine revs up, which is not that unusual. However, you should get a service shop to check it out and adjust the incorrect idle speed, which is the problem you are experiencing.
My contract stipulates - bought as is under no gaurantee. (sic)
Regardless, talk to the dealer, they may be willing to do something. If not look into the possibility of being able to take action because the vehicle is not safe to use for its intended purposes.
What do you think "as is under no guarantee" means? You might have a case in civil court.
- Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil? I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?
- Getting a refund from a dealership on a cancelled warranty? I bought a used car from metro Honda and added the extended warranty for $1600. I cancelled it the following day and was told I would receive a refund with in 2-3 billing cycles. It has been 3 months now and haven't seen a credit on my account. I plan to go down tomorrow to inquire about it and express my unhappiness. What can I do to ensure I will receive my refund/credit. I do have a copy of the cancellation form dated and signed.
- Should I demand a refund? I own a 2006 Honda Civic I ordered a new painted bumper on eBay to replace my damaged one. After taking my old one off and measuring the new is 8 inches wider but look correct. I have tired 2 times to install and it won't fit. Contacted the seller and said it is the correct bumper and is flexable enough to be installed. It is stamped as a 05 civic however it looks like the 06 bumper he now wants me to paid to have it shipped back if I'm unable to install.
